More progress

Asher did well in class today. He did some stretches, ran, practiced his form, kicks, punches, and played fireball. He participated in a almost all of class today without Mommy having to hold him. She wasn’t able to walk as far away today as yesterday, but he didn’t ask for her as much.

Asher did not like the fact that Daddy and Mommy had class tonight. He especially did not like Mommy in her uniform and actually screamed when she sparred (no gear – that will be another hurdle to get over at some point) with the instructor.  Papa and Gaga actually had to take him outside the building during that part.

Baby steps

Asher made it into class today and wore his uniform!!!!!!

He didn’t want to bow, but did give his card to Ms. Snyder. He wouldn’t do most of the stretches, practice his form, or running but he did do blocks, kicks, and fireball (he had to potty during punches). He even got a white stripe on his belt for participating!

Almost there!

Today at Tiger Tots Asher made some progress. He still wanted Mommy with him the entire time, but he at least tried butterfly stretches when the others did them. When Ms. Snyder came over and asked if he wanted to practice kicks he said yes!  He wouldn’t join the group, but he did kicks, punches, blocking, ducking, and jumping withstand. Snyder off to the side. When it was time for fireball he joined the group and won (with a little help from the instructors)! He even lined up at the end of class and bowed out.  Tomorrow he should get his uniform and his month trial starts. Once he will let Mommy not take the class with him she will get video or photos to post.

A Little Progress at Tiger Tots

Today Asher decided to sit in the classroom the entire on the other side of the room with one of the instructors and Mommy. When addressing the instructor he would use “sir” most of the time. At the end he wanted to play fireball again but not with the other kids. He ran to the mat and then stopped and went to the side. The instructors did a special fireball for him while the other kids got their stripes on their belts. Fireball is when they throw a ball at the kids and they have to run away and not let it touch them by running to the sides within the set boundaries.  The first ball he wanted to kick and the other two he dodged. He was upset at the end because he wanted to play Tiger Tots more.  Baby steps!

The proper order of putting on clothes – Asher style

When Asher goes potty at home he insists on taking his pants and unders off. He and Mommy have been working on him dressing all by himself. Tonight she kept telling him that his unders go on first and his response “No they don’t Mommy!” He proceeded to put his shorties on and then put his unders on over top all by himself. He shoved the shorties in and did a little dancing adjustment and then said “See” and ran off to get his blankey.  Mommy managed to not laugh until he left the room. But at least he dressed himself!

Tiger Tots

Asher tried Tiger Tots at Asian Sun for the first time today. Tiger Tots is Taekwondo for preschoolers. He did not do the greatest. He didn’t want to go in by himself and kept crying and yelling no.  He ended up with Mommy holding him outside the windows watching for a majority of the classroom. About halfway through he decided to go in (only with Mommy holding him). By the end of class he got down and went to go play fireball but changed his mind and ran off away when he got there. He didn’t want to be there most of the time, but when it was time to leave he didn’t want to. We will try again next week.

RubberDucks

Asher, Daddy, and Mommy went to their first Akron RubberDucks (minor league baseball) game tonight. He was not sure about the entire experience at first but had a blast.  Asher ate almost an entire piece of pizza by himself in the first inning. During the third inning, he wanted to get ice cream. Super kid turns your mouth, teeth, and anything else it touches blue. Asher was very good about wearing his helmet the entire time to protect his head from fowl balls and would even wear his glove occasionally. Our seats were 5th row behind the away team’s dugout along the first baseline. When we were walking around the stadium before the game one of the employees gave Asher a real practice ball. It was also bat night so he got a MDS bat. The RubberDucks lost be we sure had fun.

He liked to wear his helmet backwards. Next time we go, Mommy needs to remember to take his sunglasses.
