Christmas drumming

Asher received a drum set from “Santa” for Christmas. He is really enjoying it!  The video (Asher dressed himself so excuse the pants being on backwards, as he says “It’s ok, I want to wear them like this.”) is from yesterday, before he got his ear muffs, and the pictures are today.  He will ask if you have any requests. This doesn’t mean songs. Very rarely will he play a slow or quiet song, he tells you “Nope, I don’t have any of those. Try again.” when you ask for either.

Holiday Program

Asher’s preschool class had a holiday concert at Barlow Community Center in Hudson today.  A class full of three year olds singing is hilariously adorable.

Alexandria (the little girl with the blonde curls and cute red dress) “found” Sam Sandwich on the disco ball (a red reflection of the curtain), the classroom’s elf from Elf on the Shelf.

Drum Set

Today Asher, Daddy, and Mommy stopped at Woodsy’s to drop off Mommy’s clarinet for some maintenance.  While she was talking with the repairman about what needed done, one of the super nice employees there let him play a drum set in a practice room.  He seemed to enjoy it!  (Good thing since Daddy and Mommy already got him a mini drum kit for Christmas.  Haha)

He broke his board!!!

Today was testing day at tae kwon do.  Asher did well with his form (after they reinforced the need to say “Yes, sir” when asked to do something).  When it was time for Asher to break his board with the rest of the kids, he told them he did not want to do it.  Grandmaster Andrachik explained that he would not receive his new yellow and black belt until he broke a board.  Asher told him it was ok, he did not want a new belt.  After all the other kids finished their board breaks and received their new belts, Master Andrachik and Mr. Anderson took Asher off to the side to have a conversation.  Asher explained the reason he doesn’t like to break boards is due to the noise it makes.  Master Andrachik worked with him and convinced him to break a quiet board with his ears covered.  So, Master Andrachik searched the stack of boards and found the quietest one there was for Asher to break.  He did so well breaking it!  Everyone there was so proud of him for getting over this fear!  Another Tiger Tots parent even ran back in to clap and cheer for him.  The rest of the time we were there, the staff made a big deal anytime they interacted with Asher about how proud they were of him for breaking the board.

(Notice in the background of the new belt video Mr. Anderson’s huge smile.  He said to Mommy several times before we left how awesome Asher did and how proud of him he was.)

By the way, Daddy and Mommy did test after Asher’s and both of them received their orange belts.  Each of us is one tiny step closer to our First Dan Black Belt!
