COVID19 Day 16

The last day of March! School closings have been extended to from April 6, 2020 to May 1, 2020 in the state of Ohio as ordered by Governor Dewine, Dr. Amy Acton, and Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted. Today’s class meet up went a little better and the kids each got their own time to tell everyone about what’s been going on in their life (lots of tv, video games, and playing with family). Asher had two art classes today. The first one, of course was Mo Willems, and the second was Easter egg painting with Mommy. They painted the salt ornaments that they made last week. Asher made Browns, Ohio State, Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Michigan, and Pikachu eggs. He also attempted a Steve Urkel egg, and Mommy attempted a Richie (apparently he’s Asher’s favorite Family Matters character) egg. Asher’s reflects Steve wearing sunglasses, and Mommy’s came out looking more like Harriet than Richie.

After awhile, Asher determined the Steve egg looks more like Jamison because his face is a blur and Jay is always in motion and Richie looks more like Miss Robin.

Today’s writing is heartbreaking and reflects the reality and sadness of not being able to visit family.

COVID19 Day 15

Back to school with Mommy! Today was exciting because it was the first day of Google Meet Up with Asher’s class. It did not go the best, but the kids were excited to see each other and Mrs. Wollam. The experience was frustrating for Asher because he felt nobody was acknowledging him and that none of his friends wanted to talk with him. Since everyone was talking at once it was difficult to hear what each person was saying. After the group call Ernie and Asher had Meet Up with each other and then wrote a Google Doc together. During art with Mo Willems Asher made Mommy a crown to wear on her 42nd birthday in October.

COVID19 Day 14

Asher was still at Dad’s today. They tried to play football outside but it was too muddy and windy so they gave up and went and got Pheona for a walk. Then they surprised Mommy with a visit and sat on the back deck and chatted for a bit. (Sorry, no pictures today)

COVID19 Day 12

Today Asher and Mommy read some Geronimo Stilton, played cornhole and basketball (highest shots in a row today was 5), and had school. Today included a new element, a Scholastic online lesson.

It was a rough math day. Asher and Mommy worked on Khan Academy with regrouping and subtraction. Mommy has not figured out exactly how Asher is doing it in his head, but he is not grasping writing it down and subtracting the ones by borrowing one ten from the tens. Monday will bring more regrouping subtraction but some paper written problems. By the end of next week hopefully it it makes more sense.

Next week the neighborhood is supposed to start the Easter egg hunt. Asher and Mommy started to make the salt ornament eggs and will paint them next week.

COVID19 Day 10

Bob Evans, ding dong and run! Asher sang this the entire time he vacuumed during chore time. He and Mommy went for a short bike ride around the block since it was a little warmer (in the low 50’s) and sunny before doing the Asian Sun watch party class that focused on back kicks. Tabata workouts are becoming his and Mommy’s friend.

COVID19 Day 9

Asher’s rash lightened around the elbows and hand but he has a little on his face. Since we are taking temperatures multiple times a day due to coronavirus, we know his friends normal temperature is about 96.3 and today it was as high as 98.6 so a slight rise but still within normal. A relaxing day for the most part. Ash worked on some more school stuff and wanted bagels. Mommy made homemade bagels for lunch and learn with the Akron Zoo.

In the evening we went for a “bear hunt” around our neighborhood and another one (we found 68!). The highlight of the day: the Williams’ brothers waved from their front window when we went by.

Today was also dress up with Mo Willems for art class.

COVID19 Day 8

Asher slept in today. He said he didn’t feel well today and was really tired. His nose has been runny and he complained of nausea at different times. In the late afternoon a rash appeared on his elbows and then later on his hand. Not as rigorous of a homeschooling schedule today. Ash received a Google slide from Ernie that brightened his day so he started working on sending a slide to all his classmates. We went for a walk and got to talk briefly with Miss Kristen, Mr. Justin, and Bryson when we dropped fabric off on their front porch. That may have been the highlight of Asher’s day… “a brief glimpse of civilization!”

COVID19 Day 7

Sunday! Today was a more relaxed day. We finished and delivered a mask to Mrs. Murphy and started six more since she said they will work. We got to take a bike ride with Coach Dave, Noah, and Millie (minimum of six feet between all of us at all times!) and it was nice to chat with and see other people. Today was emotionally challenging for Ashe. He had a tough time controlling his emotions and wanted to spend some time alone in his room. He misses his friends and it’s difficult not knowing what’s going on with them and their families or when we will see them again.

We made pancakes for breakfast and pizza for dinner. if we keep this cooking from scratch up (waffles yesterday) we are going to have to buy a ton of flour! Another campout and movie night.

Lots more cases of COVID19 confirmed today, 351, and three deaths. Due to the fact there isn’t enough reagent, not everyone is being tested. There is more than likely WAY more positives than we know of. Beginning tomorrow at 11:59 pm, Ohio will be mandatory shelter in place.
